The German racing driver Hans Heyer became the GS Tuning Champion in the DRM in 1980, the forerunner of the DTM. At the same time, he drove the BMW M1 Procar in the series of the same name and, despite the crash in Hockenheim, secured seventh place in the overall standings with racing driver legend Hans Joachim Stuck.
